In honor of National Breastfeeding Month, here are some new updates on breastfeeding as it relates to our country and state so you can stay informed...
- The mPINC study has just been released with information on Alaska. This report provides data from the 2009 mPINC survey for Alaska. It describes specific opportunities to improve mother/baby care at hospitals and birth centers in Alaska in order to more successfully meet national quality of care standards for perinatal care. - The Center for Disease Control has just released the 2011 Breastfeeding Report Card which provides information on breastfeeding practices by state. Link: Report Card 2011
- The Joint Commission has a new campaign called Speak Up Now. They state that, "Breastfeeding is natural for you and your baby, but it is a skill that needs to be learned. Speak up and ask questions about breastfeeding before your baby is born and while you are in the hospital. This will help you continue to breastfeed after you go home."
